Porcelain vase or plant holder with black and sand hakeme decoration, clear-glazed inside and out. This is the last of this series of coloured hakeme pieces.
Approx size dxh: 10.5×9.5cm
‘Hakeme’ is a traditional Japanese technique, originating in Korea where it is know as ‘Guiyal’. The word means "brush stroke," and describes the distinctive patterns and textures when a white slip is applied expresively to a dark clay body, using brushes made from grasses and other natural materials. It is closely associated with Japan's tea ceremony culture - its rustic simplicity aligning with the principles of Wabi-Sabi which finds beauty in imperfection.
Glazes are microwave, dishwasher and food safe, but I always recommend hand-washing for hand made ceramics. See ‘Care’ for more.
Postage & Shipping: At present I only ship within the UK - see shipping costs. Collection from my Walton on Thames studio is free. Any excess postage will be refunded.
